Fairy Tale figures

Big bad Wolf

These creations were made for a customer to exhibit at various National Trust sites throughout the year.  I used a huge amount of dyed white willow, which i think really added to the whole fairy tale theme. They all had glass eyes and were each made on a steel frame.

i was asked to make an animal themed sculpture exhibition at Moma gallery, Machynlleth, wales. The other theme was doctor Doolittle, so I created a Pushmepullyu for the centerpiece  which is a creature descended from the last unicorn and a gazelle.

This dog is made of white willow and steamed willow with a buff willow tongue. It has fabric inside it’s mouth and glass eyes.

This Bear was made for Annabel’s nightclub in London. His position is because he will be supporting a mirror under his right paw and is looking away from the mirror . Once i get photos of him on his marble plinth and in place then I’ll post those too.

Giant Vampire Bat

This bat was commissioned for someone at Knightshayes court , Tiverton, a national trust place. His name is Boris and he has a 5 ft wide wingspan. He is made of various coloured willows and aluminium wire mesh for his wings, all mounted on a pine plinth.

Giant Snail

This Giant Snail is 5 foot high and made with various colours of willow and finally varnished to give that slimey feel!

I was asked to create an african wild dog for a customer in Germany who’d fallen in love with the species when on holiday in Africa.
